The Good Christmas Tree is Loopyty's Christmas campaign: children's Christmas wishes are posted on the tree, and others give them pre-loved toys for Christmas. Here, strangers become each other's Santa, and under the tree wait toys looking for a new home. Perhaps the toy your family has outgrown, or one that was never played with, travels from Bodø and becomes someone's Christmas present in Kristiansand this year.
The Good Christmas Tree opens on 1 November. Grant a wish by 15 December and the gift has plenty of time to arrive before Christmas Eve. You can give until 23 December, but then it may not make it.
You can give in two ways, and you can write your own Christmas wish. Every gift is a toy that has belonged to someone before.
Grant a wish
Find a wish on the tree and see what the child is dreaming of. Have you got a toy that fits, or something along the same lines? Tap ‘I have this’, choose the toy and pay the shipping. The family is told the wish has been granted, and you find the Helthjem code under Orders.
Place a gift under the tree
Got a toy you've outgrown that still has adventures in it? Choose the toy, put it under the tree and pay the shipping. When someone chooses the gift, you find the Helthjem code under Orders and send it wrapped. If nobody chooses it by 23 December, you get the shipping back (minus the payment fee).
Write a wish
Is your child wishing for something, and are you happy for it to have been loved before? Write the wish, and it stays on the tree until someone finds it. If someone has the toy, they can grant the wish, and you are told when it has been granted. You can write up to three wishes for each child, but sadly we can't promise every wish will be granted.
A gift must be in the condition Never played, Flawless or Pre-loved.
Before you send the gift
Pre-loved toys are welcome
The toys you give must be whole, clean and have all their parts. A gift must be in the condition Never played, Flawless or Pre-loved. If you are unsure, you can see what each condition means when you list the toy.
Wrap it as a Christmas present
Opening a present is exciting. Wrap it nicely, as if it were going under the Christmas tree. The person who receives it can give you the Magic unboxer badge in their review.
Safe shipping
When the gift has been chosen or the wish granted, you find the Helthjem code and the parcel size under Orders. It also says whether the parcel is collected from your door or handed in at a drop-off point.
Why take part
Do something kind for someone else
The greatest joy is bringing joy to someone else. Every wish is anonymous, so nobody has to explain why they wish for something. You give, and a child gets a present to open.
Teach your children to give
Your children choose which toy to give away and wrap it for a child they have never met, becoming someone's secret Santa. It is a lesson they keep, and the house gets a little tidier.
The toy gets new adventures
The toy that lay forgotten in a box travels to a child who really wishes for it. It might be in your neighbourhood or at the other end of the country. Either way, it is personal, and good for the planet.

Share the tree
The Good Christmas Tree is for everyone, whatever Christmas looks like at home. We do not know what the holidays are like for others, and an extra present from a stranger under the tree can mean a lot. Every wish is anonymous, and we meet each other with respect.
The more people take part, the more wishes come true. Share the tree with friends, family, nursery and school.
