Children learn about money and reuse with their own toys

The class runs an online toy store together, all school year. The children tidy up, take photos, list the toys and save towards a shared goal, such as the class trip. The toys find new owners instead of sitting in a drawer.

Loopyty is a marketplace for pre-loved toys with a story. We make reusing toys personal, playful and good for the planet. And easy for busy parents.

Teddy bear. re-homed in Trondheim. Sold for 180 kr. Date 8 October 2026. Adopted by Noor · Trondheim. He needed someone new to cuddle.

Who this is for

Teachers

Raise money and teach

A way to raise money for the class and teach reuse and money, with something the children care about.

Schools and organisations

A shared goal

Raise money for something you will do together, and get everyone involved in reuse.

Parents

Less chaos at home

List toys regularly and send them off on adventures, instead of letting them pile up at home.

Children

Run their own store

Under their parents' account, the children take ownership of the store and everything that comes with it. Loopyty makes reuse child's play.

Buyers get a pre-loved toy for less than new, and the money goes to a child saving towards a goal. This fits well with sustainable development and personal finance in the curriculum.

How it works for a class

Every family has its own account. You choose who owns the class store, and where the money goes.

Option A – A parent owns the store

One parent sets up the store and invites the other parents. The children list toys from home and take turns designing the store. When a toy sells, the money goes to the person who listed it. They can pass it on to the shared account afterwards if they like.

Children's own logins cost 249 kr a year per account – the first 30 days are free.

Option B – The organisation owns the store

The school or organisation registers one account and invites the parents into the store. The children list toys from home. The school can also collect the toys, take photos and list them itself. But it works best when everyone does a little. The money goes straight to the school's account.

Introductory price: 2,150 kr a year per organisation – the first 60 days are free.

Three steps

  1. The children join the store

They log in with their own PIN, take two photos and list toys, and set a goal to save towards together or on their own.

  2. The toys are sold or given away

Anyone in the country can buy. Within the class's own group, toys can be handed over in person, with no shipping. Meetings and handovers are arranged in Loopyty, with a code to confirm the toy was handed over.

  3. The children are store bosses

Running a store is not only about what happens online, but also keeping the stockroom at home in order.

Safe for children

  • There are no messages between users on Loopyty – neither for children nor adults
  • Loopyty is not made for hours of scrolling. Children log in to do a task, like listing a toy
  • Children have no access to money or settings
  • Parents are responsible for what is sent from their child's store
  • Groups are closed: you only join when someone in the group invites you
  • The money is held safely until the toy is delivered, and then goes straight to the seller. Children never handle money themselves

Every toy gets its own passport

When a toy finds a new home, its story goes with it. Children see only the first name of the person who got the toy.

Towards Christmas

The good Christmas tree

We start the good Christmas tree in November. Families who need a little extra this Christmas can put their children's wishes on the tree. Others can give away a toy they have at home, or buy one and send it.

Whoever makes a wish stays anonymous. The class is welcome to do it together, as part of learning about giving.

The Loopyty tree

Everyone on Loopyty gets their own Loopyty tree. It grows from a seed to a whole forest, the more toys are passed on.

Each toy that finds a new home saves about 1.5 kg of CO₂. The tree grows with every toy that is reused, so the children can see what they have saved for the environment.

14 toys are about what a young tree absorbs in CO₂ in a year. The roots represent everyone you have passed a toy on to.

When we tested with a class

The children were eager to make a store with friends, and wanted to run several. One child found many more toys to let go of than expected. When children are involved, they take ownership, and new circular habits form.

The parents asked for a way to raise money for something shared, like a class trip. We have now built that.
