Buying pre-loved toys
Purchasing on Loopyty is as straightforward as any other online shop. Your payment is authorised upfront at checkout. Once the seller is notified, they will prepare your toy for collection. The payment is only fully processed once your parcel has been shipped. If HeltHjem is unable to collect the package, your money will be automatically returned to your account.
All sales on Loopyty are final, and returns are not accepted. However, if the toy isn't quite right for you, you are more than welcome to relist it on Loopyty and find it a new home!
We use five distinct condition ratings to help describe our toys. These ratings act as a guide for our sellers and ensure that your expectations as a buyer are perfectly aligned with what arrives at your door.
- Never played: Never used. Never played means unopened, with the original packaging intact, and ready for adventure. It has had one owner, but the owner had other interests, and the toy is looking for a new change with another awesome person.
- Flawless: Carefully used. Flawless means the toy looks almost brand new. It has barely been played with, the packaging is still intact (maybe a tiny crease or two), and it is ready to rock its next adventure with a new sidekick!
- Pre-loved: Regularly used. Pre-loved toys are like trusted friends. They have been cherished and enjoyed, but their adventures are far from over. It is time for new stories and playtime memories! (Tiny scratches and wild hair might occur).
- Wise: Used roughly or aged. Wise toys are like older friends. They have seen adventures, shared laughter, and held cherished memories. While they might not be as solid as when new, they can still be fun and adventurous. Wise toys also includes vintage toys.
- Fixer-upper: Broken, not dead. Fixer-uppers are toys with a memorable history. They have seen better days, and now they might have missing or broken parts, but with a little love and care, they are prime candidates to become unique gems cherished by someone who loves to tinker — someone who can make them into one-of-a-kind treasures.
Absolutely. We have designed Loopyty to be a secure community built on trust between families. To ensure your peace of mind, we have several safeguards in place:
- Payment protection: We securely hold your payment and only charge you once the seller has shipped the item.
- Verified shipping: By using our integrated shipping partner, HeltHjem, every parcel is tracked from one front door to the other.
- Automatic refunds: If a seller fails to ship your toy or the collection is unsuccessful, your money is automatically refunded.
- Community standards: We encourage a transparent rating system so you can see other families' experiences with a seller.
Buying pre-loved toys is not only safe but also a brilliant way to support other families and the environment.
Selling pre-loved toys
Our platform is designed to be incredibly simple for both parents and children to use. Listing a toy takes just a few seconds:
- Snap two photos: Take two clear photos of the toy and upload them.
- AI does the work: Loopyty takes care of the rest, automatically generating the description and perfecting the presentation for you; we even suggest the price.
- Wait for the sale: Once listed, you simply wait for a shipping notification.
- Zero hassle: There is no need for awkward negotiations or endless "chit-chat" — we handle the logistics so you can focus on your day.
Loopyty is a dedicated marketplace for toys and play-related items. If it belongs in a kid (or kidult) or in a playroom and is ready for a new home, you can likely sell it here. We love seeing:
- Classic toys: Everything from building blocks and LEGO sets to dolls and action figures.
- Active play: Scooters, balance bikes, and outdoor games that your children have outgrown.
- Creative kits: Arts and craft supplies, puzzles, and musical instruments.
- Educational items: Books, comics, and learning sets that are ready for the next student.
Essentially, if it is a toy in good, safe condition that another family would enjoy, it is perfect for Loopyty. If you have a toy that isn't quite complete or is best suited for spare parts, you can list it under our 'fixer-upper' condition. We just ask that you ensure everything is clean before you snap your photos, so the next family gets a great first impression!
It is completely free to list your toys on Loopyty. We simply add a small service fee to your chosen selling price to cover our platform costs and provide payment protection.
- Free to list: You can upload as many toys as you like at no upfront cost.
- You choose your profit: When you list an item, you set the amount you want to receive.
- Transparent pricing: We add our service fee to your chosen price, so please do keep this in mind when valuing your pre-loved toy. As you set your price, you will be able to see the final total that the buyer will see on the platform.
- No deductions: Because the fee is added on top of the seller's price, the full selling price you set is exactly what is transferred to you once the sale is complete.
This ensures that our sellers never have to worry about hidden costs or complicated calculations!
We aim to get your earnings to you as quickly as possible. Your payment is triggered as soon as your parcel has been successfully picked up by HeltHjem.
For your very first sale, it can take up to seven days for the funds to reach your account. This is because our payment partner, Stripe, needs to verify your details to ensure the transaction is secure. Once this initial check is complete, all future payments will be much faster, typically arriving within one to two business days of the collection.
Once someone has purchased your pre-loved toy, the process is effortless. You will receive an email notification from Loopyty, followed by an email and SMS from our delivery partner, HeltHjem, to help you prepare the toy for its new adventure.
- Wrap it up: Securely package the toy to ensure it stays safe during its journey. We recommend using a sturdy box or a padded mailer.
- Label-free: You don't need a printer. You will receive a unique code from HeltHjem via SMS or email — simply write this code clearly on the parcel using a permanent marker so it stays visible throughout the trip.
- Collection: Depending on the size of the package, you will be asked to either place the toy on your doorstep for overnight collection or drop it off at a local HeltHjem point.
HeltHjem will provide clear, step-by-step instructions in their message so you know exactly what to do.
Trust & safety
We take your family's privacy as seriously as we take your security. Loopyty is built on a foundation of trust, and we use industry-leading standards to keep your information safe.
- Data minimisation: We collect only the information necessary to process your orders and ship your toys. We will never sell your personal data to third parties.
- Secure payments: As mentioned, your payment details are handled entirely by Stripe. We never store or see your credit card numbers in our systems.
- Safe shipping: Your address is only shared with our delivery partner, HeltHjem, to facilitate the collection and delivery of your parcel.
- GDPR compliant: We follow strict data protection regulations to ensure you have full control over your information, including the right to access or delete your data at any time.
- No public profiles: Because we don't have a messaging system, your personal contact details remain private and are never visible to other users on the platform.
Your security is our priority. To ensure every transaction is safe, we use Stripe, a global leader in payment processing trusted by millions of businesses.
- Secure processing: We never store your card details on our own servers; all sensitive information is handled by Stripe's industry-standard encrypted systems.
- Buyer protection: For every purchase, your payment is securely held and processed only after the seller has shipped your toy.
- Verified sellers: We work closely with Stripe to verify our users, creating a community of trust for every family.
- Fraud prevention: Stripe's advanced technology works in the background to monitor for unusual activity, so you can shop with total peace of mind.
To keep Loopyty simple and fast, we do not have a messaging system. Instead, we rely on clear photos and honest descriptions to ensure everyone is happy.
- Final sale: All sales on Loopyty are final. Because payment is fully processed the moment HeltHjem picks up the parcel from the seller, we are unable to cancel a transaction once it is in transit.
- Leave a review: After you receive your toy, you will have the opportunity to rate the seller. This feedback is vital for maintaining our community standards and helping other families shop with confidence.
- The "Relist" option: If the toy arrives and isn't quite what you expected, the easiest solution is to relist it! You can snap your own photos, add a more detailed description, and find it a new home on the platform.
- Dispute support: In the rare event of a significant issue that violates our community guidelines, you can contact our support team directly.
Loopyty is a community built on trust, play, and the shared joy of passing toys from one family to another. To keep our platform a happy place for everyone, we ask our members to follow our "Be Kind" policy:
- Honesty is everything: We ask sellers to be as truthful as possible with their descriptions and photos. Sharing the "well-loved" details helps the next family know exactly what to expect.
- Respect the journey: When packaging a toy, please wrap it with care. Receiving a parcel that has been carefully protected makes the experience special for the child on the receiving end.
- Fair feedback: Our review system is there to help us grow. We ask that all reviews be constructive, fair, and respectful to the families involved.
- The bigger picture: Remember that behind every listing is a parent or a child trying to declutter and a child waiting for a new sidekick. A little kindness goes a long way in our circular community.
It's a tool that analyses a photo of a toy and gives you a quick read on how sustainable it is. The idea is simple: before you buy something new in a shop, take a photo of the box. In a few seconds you'll have a score that tells you whether it's worth it — or whether a pre-loved version might be the smarter choice. It's also useful the other way around: if you already own something and wonder whether buying it was a good call, you can check that too. The bigger goal is to make it easier to buy less, and buy better.
- How does it work?: The check analyses what it can see in the image — the toy itself, the packaging, and any labels or markings. It looks at six areas: chemical safety, durability and repairability, materials and end-of-life handling, packaging, the company's sustainability efforts, and production transparency. Where a certification or eco-label is visible (like the Nordic Swan or FSC), it's included. Where something can be verified in an official source — a manufacturer's website, a certification body, a regulatory document — that's included too. If we can't find a solid basis, we mark it as unknown rather than guess.
- What does the score mean?: Each area is scored separately, then combined into an overall result from 0 to 10. 0.0–3.9 is LOW, 4.0–7.0 is MEDIUM, and 7.1–10.0 is HIGH. If there's too little usable information, the result shows as UNKNOWN. Not all six areas carry equal weight: durability and repairability count for most, followed closely by materials and end-of-life. Chemical safety sits in the middle. Packaging, the company's sustainability record, and production transparency carry less — partly because they're harder to verify from a single image.
- Do I need the box?: The best results come when the original packaging is intact and clearly photographed. Labels, certifications, and material information are usually printed on the box — without it, there's simply less to go on. That said, you can still run the check on the toy itself. You may just get more unknowns.
- Is it accurate?: It's a practical tool, not a scientific audit. It works from what's visible in one image, which means it has limits. It will get better the more it's used. We're also building this while we wait for the EU Digital Product Passport, which will eventually make detailed sustainability data available for every product sold in Europe (expected around 2027–2030). Until then, the sustainability check is our best attempt to give parents something useful today.
- Can I trust the sources it uses?: Yes — and you can check them yourself. The check only uses sources that are publicly verifiable: manufacturer websites, official certification bodies, and regulatory documents. It doesn't use blogs, anonymous claims, or anything it can't actually point to. If a label is visible only in the image, it says so. If it's also confirmed by an external source, that source is listed.
No. Loopyty is the technology that connects families who want to sell with families who want to buy. We don't handle the toys, inspect them, or verify their condition. That responsibility sits with the seller, and the judgment sits with the buyer.
- So how do I know a toy is safe?: All toys sold new in Europe must comply with the EU Toy Safety Directive (Regulation (EU) 2025/2509) before going on sale. That covers issues such as small parts, sharp edges, harmful materials, and flammability. A toy that was safe when it was made doesn't stop being safe just because it's pre-loved. What changes over time is wear — that's what you're looking for.
- I'm a seller. What should I think about before listing?: Look at the toy honestly. Is it broken in a way that creates a risk — sharp edges from cracks, pieces missing that matter for safe play, or a mechanism that no longer works safely? If yes, don't list it. Most pre-loved toys are completely fine, but if something gives you pause, trust that instinct. One practical note: the original packaging and age guidance often won't exist any more — that's completely normal. Just describe the toy accurately, photograph any wear or damage clearly, and let the buyer make an informed decision.
- I'm a buyer. What should I check?: Look at the photos carefully before you buy. Read the condition notes. Think about whether the toy is appropriate for your child's age, even without the box to tell you. You can't message the seller directly — all communication goes through Loopyty — so the listing itself is your main source of information. If something looks unclear or incomplete, it's worth waiting for a listing that gives you more confidence.
- What if a toy arrives and it's not as described?: Get in touch with us. We can't inspect every toy before it's listed, but we can help when something goes wrong.
