Loopyty groups: buy and sell pre-loved toys with people you know
The Facebook group with 12,000 members? Toys drown in the crowd there. A Loopyty group is for people you actually know.
Loopyty is a Norwegian marketplace for pre-loved children's toys. A Loopyty group is a small circle of families who know each other – the neighbours, the class, your baby group or the family. The toys you list show up together in the group, and you can meet and hand them over yourselves instead of sending them with Helthjem.
What is a Loopyty group?
A small circle of families who trust each other. The neighbours. The class. Your baby group. Grandparents, aunts and uncles. You can be in as many groups as you like.
In the group you can meet and pass toys on hand to hand. No postage, and the toy finds a new home just down the road.
Just want new toys from a family you don't know? Follow them instead.
Who gets in?
Groups are for grown-ups with a Loopyty account. Anyone in the group can invite people with a link. Anyone who has the link can join — so only share it with people you trust, and who you'd happily let your children meet when a toy is passed on. Small groups work best.
Children aren't in the groups, but their toys are. If your child sells a toy to someone in the group, you agree the time and place. Your child can do the handover.

The toys are still for everyone
You can't sell a toy only to your group. Every toy on Loopyty can be bought by anyone in the country, and whoever buys first gets the toy, whether that's the neighbour or someone in Tromsø.
The group gives you two things: people you know see your toys, and you can meet instead of posting.
How to meet and hand a toy over – no postage
- Someone in the group buys the toy. Loopyty holds the money until you've met.
- Straight after the purchase you agree a time and place in Loopyty, so nobody needs to message anyone.
- You meet. The buyer has a code — when the seller enters it, the sale is done and the money is on its way to the seller.
- The toy gets a new stamp in its toy passport.
If you haven't met within six days of the purchase, it's cancelled, the card isn't charged, and the toy goes back on sale. Before the deadline, the buyer can choose to have it sent with Helthjem instead.
Meeting is part of the seller's toy store subscription. Without one, the seller can try it three times.
Everything about the meeting and the code is in Meet and hand the toy over yourselves.

Why pay through Loopyty when we're face to face?
Because the money is safe until the toy changes hands. And because only what goes through Loopyty counts: the toy passport, the badges and the tree that grows for every toy that finds a new home.
Who can you make a group with?
- The neighbours on your street
- The class
- The football team
- Your baby group
- The family
- The grandparents
Questions and answers
What is a group on Loopyty?
A group on Loopyty is a small circle of families who know and trust each other — the neighbours, the class, your baby group or the family. The toys you list show up together in the group, and you can meet and pass them on without postage.
Who can join a group?
Any grown-up with a Loopyty account can join a group if they get an invitation link from someone already in it. Anyone who has the link can join, so only share it with people you trust. Children aren't in the groups, but their toys are.
Can I sell a toy only to my group?
No. Every toy on Loopyty can be bought by anyone in the country. A group means people you know see your toys, and that you can meet instead of posting.
How do we pay when we meet to hand over a toy?
The buyer pays in Loopyty, and Loopyty holds the money. When you meet, the buyer gives the seller a code — once the seller enters it, the sale is done and the money is on its way to the seller.
What happens if we don't manage to meet?
If you haven't met within six days of the purchase, it's cancelled, the card isn't charged, and the toy goes back on sale. Before the deadline, the buyer can choose to have it sent with Helthjem instead.
Can we give toys away in a group?
Yes. A toy can be listed as a gift. If you meet, nobody pays anything. If it's sent with Helthjem, whoever adopts it pays only the postage.
How is a Loopyty group different from a Facebook group for second-hand toys?
A Loopyty group is for people you actually know, not thousands of strangers. You agree a time and place in Loopyty instead of in messages, Loopyty holds the money until the toy is handed over, and every toy gets a stamp in its toy passport.
Does it cost anything to be in a group?
Making a group or joining one costs nothing. Meeting to pass a toy on is part of the seller's toy store subscription. Without one, the seller can try it three times.
