Meet and hand the toy over yourselves
Some toys don't need a delivery service. They only need to cross the road, or cross town. So we made a physical "passport control". Curious? Read on.
Loopyty is a Norwegian marketplace for pre-loved children's toys. Passport control is how a buyer and a seller in the same Loopyty group meet and hand a toy over themselves, with no postage. You agree the time and place in Loopyty, the buyer shows a code, and once the seller types it in, the money goes to the seller.
Who can meet?
The buyer and the seller must be in the same Loopyty group. That way you only meet people you know, or people someone in the group knows.
What does it cost to meet?
The buyer pays for the toy and the service fee – no postage. Meeting is included in the seller's toy store subscription. Without one, the seller can try it three times.
How you agree the time and place
- The buyer suggests a place and up to three time slots, within 48 hours of the purchase.
- The seller picks one, or suggests something else.
- You meet within six days. Put it straight into your calendar.
Loopyty reminds you along the way, by email and in your notifications. No back-and-forth about whether Thursday works.
How the code in Passport control works
When you meet:
- The buyer looks the toy over.
- If everything is as it should be, the buyer shows their code.
- The seller types the code in, and the money goes to the seller.
Why that way round? The code is the buyer's "yes". Nobody pays for a toy they haven't seen, and the seller knows the money is on its way as soon as the code is typed in.
If it's people you know, your children can hand the toy over. They get the code at the handover, and you type it in afterwards. The money still goes to your account.
Where do I find Passport control?
In the menu, whether you are buying or selling. Time, place and code live there. No threads to search through. There aren't any.
When plans change
The meeting doesn't happen?
It's automatic, and you don't have to do anything: if you haven't met within six days of the purchase, it's cancelled, the card isn't charged, and the toy goes back on sale.
Would you rather have the toy sent?
As the buyer, you can choose Helthjem instead, within six days of the purchase. We cancel the meeting, hold the toy for you for 30 minutes, and you buy it again with delivery.
None of the times work?
The seller can suggest something else.
A new stamp in the passport
Once the code is typed in, the toy is adopted. It gets a new stamp in its toy passport, and you can follow where it travels next.

Why pay in Loopyty and not in cash when we meet?
Because talking about price and money can quickly get awkward when you sell pre-loved things – especially when the seller has set a price range. Paid in advance, it's settled before you meet. Paying is also a commitment: whoever has paid turns up – or chooses Helthjem if they'd rather have the toy sent. And the money only goes to the seller once the buyer has seen the toy and shows the code.
Can we switch to Helthjem after agreeing to meet?
Yes. The buyer can choose Helthjem instead within six days of the purchase. We cancel the meeting, hold the toy for 30 minutes, and the buyer buys it again with delivery.
